Die Corrector

National Aluminium is an industry leader in manufacturing, designing, and supplying aluminium profiles for all architectural, commercial, residential, transport use and many other applications.

Our Australian owned and run company has been supplying Australian manufacturers with aluminium profiles and products for the last 35 years. Quality of our products is core to our business. As such, we have invested in a state-of-the-art aluminium finishing plant and spent endless hours planning and perfecting our technologies and processes. National Aluminium runs three aluminium extrusion lines, two high-tech anodising plants, two Horizontal Paint line’s and one state-of-the-art Vertical Paint line.

The role 

The Die Corrector is responsible for inspecting, modifying, and maintaining extrusion dies to ensure optimal performance in the aluminum extrusion process. This role involves troubleshooting die issues, optimizing die design, and working closely with production teams to maintain quality standards. The Die Corrector plays a critical role in ensuring smooth production operations by minimizing defects and improving extrusion efficiency. 

Key responsibilities 

1. Die Inspection & Analysis: 

  • Inspect new and used dies for defects, wear, and operational inefficiencies.
  • Analyze die performance issues and troubleshoot to identify root causes. 
  • Recommend corrective actions to enhance die performance. 

2. Die Correction & Repair: 

  • Modify and repair dies using machining, welding, grinding, and polishing techniques. 
  • Adjust die flow and dimensions to meet extrusion specifications and improve consistency. 
  • Ensure proper alignment and fitment of dies in the extrusion process. 

3. Process Optimization: 

  • Collaborate with die designers and production teams to improve die performance. 
  • Suggest and implement modifications to enhance extrusion quality and reduce defects. 
  • Evaluate new die designs for efficiency and manufacturability. 

4. Quality Control & Testing: 

  • Conduct trials and testing to validate corrected dies before full production. 
  • Monitor extrusion quality to ensure compliance with company and industry standards. 
  • Identify recurring issues and work on preventive measures. 

5. Documentation & Reporting: 

  • Maintain detailed records of die corrections, modifications, and performance assessments. 
  • Provide feedback to engineers and management for continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Document best practices and update process guidelines as needed. 

About the Shifts

Monday – Friday  38 hours per week

7:00pm – 3:00pm 

About you - Skills & Experience

  • Minimum two years of recent experience as a Die Corrector or a simialar role in the manufacturing environment
  • Trade qualification(s)
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Good attitude with a preference for being ‘hands-on’
  • Some weekend availability is a must.
